What’s New?
REACH v2.0 brings tons of improvements to functionality, user interface, and so much more. Check out our release notes for a full download of our newest features and bug fixes. Enjoy!
New Search Section
The search section has been completely overhauled in order to make finding content easier. Use a combination of search and several new filters to locate the exact video that you are trying to find. Previewing videos while searching simultaneously using our new “work panel” will only make the hunt easier.
Helpful contextual menus on all video entries offer productive shortcuts to make your life easier. These new menus can be accessed by clicking the three dot button on the right side of any entry. The menu changes depending on its contextual surroundings. Explore and play around the new search section to see how these little helpers can speed up your workflows.
The new search section also includes a more intuitive method of creating static and dynamic playlists through the use of a “playlist builder” area that allows you to browse content, preview videos, and build playlists simultaneously.
New Playlist Builder
The new playlist builder introduces and brand new drag and drop workflow for quicker playlist creation. The playlist builder work panel is your ultimate tool for crafting the perfectly curated playlists. Drag and drop single or even multiple videos (the shift and cmd/ctrl keys are your friend) into any specific position in your playlist with ease. Building, browsing and previewing simultaneously is so easy that you may catch yourself watching even more of your own video library.
Dynamic Playlists
The new dynamic playlist create will be done from the new search section. You will be able to set contributor, category and keyword filters to create an auto updating playlist of videos. This will allow for much greater flexibility in creating dynamic playlists.
Provider Manage Players
We have restored our temporary restriction of provider accounts creating and managing their publisher’s players. We have also made several workflow improvements to make creating and managing your publisher’s players much easier without ever leaving your Provider account.
Provider Manage Templates
Providers can now manage and create player templates for publishers right from their Provider account.
Contributor Restrictions
Providers are now able to control the content their publishers can access at the contributor level. Fine-grain access control allows you to have full control over publisher access to content on Reach.
Vertical Video Support
Once upon a time, vertical videos were the bane of an online video viewer’s content consumption experience. Now thanks to SnapChat, they are the new hot ticket in town. Content producers are ramping up vertical video production and advertisers are following suit. Now all Reach users can capitalize on this fast moving trend with the addition of vertical video support.
Google AMP Support
Reach players are now able to be rendered in an AMP page. If you don’t know what AMP is, the simple explanation by the AMP team is that it “is a way to build web pages for static content that render fast.”. You can learn more about AMP here. In a nutshell, it is a way to load content to mobile devices extremely quickly. The Reach player is now an officially approved AMP component, so it is available to publish to any AMP-enabled page.
IAB Categories
We have migrated all of the old Reach categories to IAB Categories. This will further enhance your content search and manage experience across the entire platform.
In addition to vertical video, social publishing is another extremely hot trend right now. Many publishers are going “all in” on publishing directly to platforms like Facebook and Twitter, and in some cases favoring these platforms over their own sites! We have followed this trend carefully and have started to roll out many new features to help you capitalize on this seismic shift in online video publishing.
Publishers are now able to post any video that has social publishing enabled directly to Facebook and Twitter. Simply connect pages you own or manage and then follow a simple three step process to upload your videos directly to these social platforms. Videos are then presented directly in users’ feeds as gorgeous native videos.
Refined User Interface
Complete review and refinement of the entire user interface. Those who also use Beachfront.io will be right at home now that we have applied our Beachfront common styles to Reach.
